Very sad to hear the news of the death of Mike Ahern. Mike was one of the most popular djs on Radio Caroline North in the sixties, and also one of the original djs on the launch of BBC Radio 1 in 1967.

He was last heard on Pirate BBC Essex from Harwich this year.

A Quiet Week

Posted By Colin Stevens on October 4, 2009

Well I have to say its been a very quiet week on the station, everything is ticking over, Its so nice to get nice messages left from new listeners on our comments page.  A big welcome to all those people.

Listening to a show reel at the moment from a possible new dj from the USA for the station.

Bobby Graham/Mary Travers

Posted By Colin Stevens on September 21, 2009

Very sad to hear the news of the passing of Bobby Graham, “The Drummer Man” who played on more than 15000 hit records during the sixties and seventies, spaning more than 45 years. His playing can be heard on hit records like Glad All Over, The Dave Clark Five, The kinks, You Really got me, and countless others.

He was also the drummer with the Les Reed Orchestra, Man Of Action. If you ever get the chance read his story in his book, The Session Man, The story of “Bobby Graham” the UK’s greatest session drummer.

Also not to forget Mary Travers, of Peter, Paul and Mary, sixties folk group who passed away last week.

I will play songs from the above during my Sixties Sunday Breakfast Show this Sunday 27th Sept at 7am UK time.

Colin.
